(Unity)
- “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!…..For there the Lord bestows His blessing.” (Psalm 133)
Prayer unifies. And unity or oneness is God’s heart for us as His people. Listen to Jesus prayer to God for us before going to the cross:
- “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me, that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.” John 17:20-23
The Prayer Room is a place of unity amongst God’s people. A place where intercession is being handed off & shared amongst a diverse people; from teenagers to business professionals, soccer moms to college students to whole groups of people who may be different in age, sex, status or position…..different racially, denominationally, politically, socio-economically & everything in between & yet all unified under the name of Jesus Christ.
In regards to unity, we echo the cry of Jesus for “oneness” & the words of Count Zinzendor of the Moravian Prayer Movement who said: “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, love.”
- “Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Ephesians 4:3-6
